Bio/Contact

Arden Stern is a design historian whose scholarship focuses on American graphic design and visual culture. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Humanities & Sciences at ArtCenter College of Design. She received her doctorate in Visual Studies from the University of California, Irvine, and her bachelor’s degree in Art-Semiotics from Brown University. Dr. Stern has been the recipient of research funding from the Winterthur Library and the American Antiquarian Society, as well as ArtCenter's Samsung-endowed Faculty Enrichment Grant and the Hoffmitz Milken Center for Typography Educator Grant. She has contributed to various publications, including the Design & Culture journal, Design Issues, and Print magazine.
